Fribourg Hospital is a 346-bed communitybased medical center with comprehensive medical and surgical programs working as tertiary centre within the Fribourg network together with 6 regional hospitals. Fribourg Hospital is also affiliate to Fribourg University and acts as teaching hospital for undergraduate students. Since 2010, Fribourg Hospital has the most advances surgical operation rooms in Europe. Long-established community-based cardiologist, Jean-Jacques Goy, M.D., has joined the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases led by Jean-Christophe Stauffer, M.D., in 2007 and launched the newest cardiovascular catheter izat ion laboratory in Switzerland together wi th Gérard Baer iswyl , M.D. , Stéphane Cook, M.D., and Mario Togni, M.D. Since then, the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Fribourg hospital offers a comprehensive , multidisciplinary program for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The staff includes skilled and experienced cardiologists, angiologists and vascular surgeons. Their combined expertise provides state-of-the-art interventional capabilities in 24- hour cardiac catheterization lab: hemodynamics, coronary and peripheral angiography and percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions (PTA; PCI) with or without stent implantation, rotational atherectomy, scoring-, cutting or drug-eluting balloons, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT), balloon valvuloplasty with 2D- and 3D-TEE guidance, percutaneous PFO, ASD or left atrial appendage closures, coiling.
